Dear Parents,
It’s hard to believe the holidays are here! Our Thanksgiving feast was a huge success. The children had a wonderful feast with lots of goodies. The children learned all about Pilgrims & Indians. The teachers served the food to the children and after played several games. We hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful too!
For the month of December, we will be learning about Winter, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, and New Years. Our classroom will be decorated with the projects the children are making. The classroom will look like a “winter wonderland” after we are through with it.
The children will be learning about how people around the world celebrate their holidays. They are celebrated through singing, speaking, dancing and reciting traditions. Through readings and projects they will learn about Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa.
The toddler class is learning their good morning song, holiday songs, days of the week and months. They sing these songs everyday during circle time. They have become better listeners and enjoy singing and dancing. They are truly enjoying all of the new holiday songs. We are also improving on our Name, Color, and Shape recognition.
The Nursery and Pre-k class are also learning their good morning song, holiday songs, days of the week and months. They are focusing on the letters “J-L” in our alphabet as well letter matching of upper & lower case. We are also focusing on the numbers “9-10” in our number books. They continue reviewing shapes, colors, songs and rhymes. (in Spanish too!)
Our “Holiday Party” will be on Friday, December 20th at 10:00 am. All are welcome! A sign-up sheet for goodies will be posted up if you would like to bring something for the party.
Our special holiday visitor will be appearing at the party. He will be bringing presents for all of the children.
We are asking each parent to bring in a wrapped present for their child/children with their child’s name on it no later than December 13th. The gift should only cost around $10.00.
As part of our focus on the holidays, our class is collecting nonperishable food and/or a toy to donate to fill a giving basket. The basket of food/toys will be donated to a needy family in time for the holidays. Your contribution in this effort will be greatly appreciated. If you can, please send a nonperishable food item/toy in as soon as you can or no later than Dec. 20th.
For the parents that have requested a staff list for the holidays, here it is: Miss Melissa, Miss Susie, Miss Louiza, Miss Cynthia & Miss Alison.
