October 1, 2014
Dear Parents,
Last month the children focused on getting acquainted with each other and learned all about Fall Fruits and Vegetables, Family/Friends, and All About Me. The children had so much fun making new friends, seeing old ones and working in their new classrooms.
This month we will talk about Fall Fruits and Vegetables, Columbus Day, Halloween, Fall, and Fire Prevention and Safety. The children will be discussing which fruits and vegetables grow in the Fall.
It is with sadness that Miss Beth-Anne will be leaving Miss Dawn’s Child Care. Her last day will be Friday, October 3, 2014. I just wanted all of the families to know how thankful I am that you let Beth-Anne into your child’s lives when she became their Teacher 3 years ago. We wish Miss Beth-Anne the best of luck on her new endeavor as she moves on to the next stage of her life, and we know whatever path she chooses she will be successful. We will miss her!
I would like to introduce Miss Erika who will be assuming the role of the Toddler Teacher. I am very excited about the fresh new ideas she will bring to our school and your children. Miss Erika already knows and has a great relationship with all of the children as she has been an Assistant in this room. Miss Erika started her career in education over 5 years ago and is looking forward to continuing to work with your children in her new position as Teacher.
The Nursery and Preschool Classes will be working on poems, Fall themed artwork, new songs, writing skills with “Handwriting Without Tears”, learning how to write and spell their name, letters, numbers and shapes. We will be starting with the letters D, E, F, and numbers 2, 3, 4. The children also enjoy doing music, movement and exercise everyday. They are really doing well and love to do their projects too! We will also be making applesauce, doing an apple graph and reading apple stories! Please check their folders every night.
Everyday at circle time the Toddler Class will continue name Recognition, Shapes, Numbers, Colors and Alphabet Recognition.
Our “Parent/Teacher Conferences” will be in mid November this year. It is a great way for you to talk with your child’s teacher and see what they have been working on.
We will be celebrating Fall with a Halloween Party on Friday, October 31st!! We are asking if you could please send in $1.00 for your child as the great pumpkin will be appearing to drop off pumpkins for all of the children to go pumpkin picking the day of the party. Please bring your child’s costume (nothing scary) in a separate bag with your child’s name on it, so we can change them for the party. Please do not send any masks or weapons to school. We are all looking forward to a great time! All are welcome! Please look for the sign-up sheet for snacks for our party. We encourage healthy snacks . Please be creative with the healthy snacks, Thank you!
The children have been making fun and spooky projects for Halloween. Please be sure to look around the classroom for your child’s art projects as you come in.
October is “Fire Prevention” month. Please take the time to be safe and remember to change the batteries in all of your smoke and CO detectors or replace any older or questionable detectors before months end.
