NEWSLETTER “Huntington Location” March 2015

Dear Parents,

     Our Valentine’s Day party was wonderful, filled with fun and love. Thank you to all of the parents who supplied our treats! The children had such fun playing and especially loved making Valentine projects. They had fun learning about our friend the “groundhog” and learning about dental health too. Thank you Dr. Shoni for visiting us and teaching us about our teeth! We learned what good foods to eat and the sweets they should not be eating too often. The children made teeth and a toothbrush to review at circle time how important and fun it is to “brush, brush, brush, your teeth”. Another dentist will be visiting with us this month on March 26th. They will also be taking home a goodie bag when the dentist visits.

Unknown     This month the children will be focusing on Community HelpersSt. Patrick’s DaySpring, & Farm Animals.

          The Nursery and Preschool Classes will be working on poems, Holiday themed artwork, new songs, writing skills with “Handwriting Without Tears”, learning how to write and spell their name, letters, numbers and shapes. We will be working on the letters Nn, Oo, Pp, Qq numbers 11, 12, 13, colors, patterns, months, seasons. The children also enjoy doing music, movement and exercise everyday. They are really doing well and love to do their projects too! This month we will be making lion and lambs and learning new songs to celebrate March.  The children will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and try to catch a leprechaun. We will be learning colors, patterns, shapes, sounds, seasons and our senses. We are continuing to work in our journals. The children are illustrating pictures and telling stories about different topics. Please bring in your backpack everyday! Please check their folders for work and please images-1review every night. 

      Everyday at circle time the Toddler Class will continue name Recognition, Shapes, Numbers, Colors and Alphabet Recognition. The children are learning new words during our circle time, such as: Community, March, Spring and many more, and will be learning about the color green. The children also enjoy doing music, movement and exercise everyday. They are really doing well and love to do their projects too! **TODDLERS will be picked up at WHITE DOOR (Miss Erika’s class ONLY) This avoids traffic in the hall – Thank you!**

images-4     In our Community Helper Unit we will introduce the concept and will discuss how different groups work together and why community work is important for our communities. Our Community Helper unit will be exciting. The children are excited to make police people, fire people, etc. projects and are excited to have a couple of community helpers visit with us this month. We will be learning about their different jobs, uniforms, transportation, and how they help our community.

     St. Patrick’s Day is on the way and soon our classroom will be filled Unknown-1with green! The children will be decorating the classroom with pots o’ gold, rainbows, shamrocks, and lucky leprechauns. They will be learning who St. Patrick was and why we celebrate this day. The class will be playing a matching number game with a pot-of-gold. We are practicing patterns with shamrocks. Our class will be celebrating on Tuesday, March 17th. Please dress your child in green. Miss Dawn will be providing the classes with green bagels and juice. The children will be trying to catch a leprechaun (on the playground weather permitting) and looking for four leaf clovers.

images-3     For our Farm Animals unit we will learn how farm animals are useful to us. We will learn how to take care of them, the names of them, their shelters, food and babies.

     The children are also starting to prepare for our “end of the year “ concert in June. The concert date will be given out in next month’s newsletter. If you could please bring $15.00 cash in an envelope per child to help cover the cost of the shirts and costumes for graduation as soon as possible. School pictures will be taken on Friday, April 13, 2015 @ 10:30am.dollar sign

     We now have Quick Pay – The new and easy way to pay your child’s tuition! This is available through an email invoice which will be sent to you monthly. The directions are on our website for online and automatic payments, please refer to the e-flier for a direct link and instructions.

Please be sure to watch or check online Channel 12 News or call the schools voicemailand we now have an automated phone message for any days we will be closed or for important information.

tissue     If anyone would like to donate wipes and/or tissues, we have been going through so many boxes. We appreciate it!

     If you are interested in Direct Deposit from your bank it is now available, please contact Dawn for further information.

Reminders:

  • Dentist Visit: March 26th @ 10am
  • Please mark your calendars: The Photographer will be taking pictures of our lovely children on Friday, April 13, 2015 @ 10:30am
  • Please call if your child will be absent as soon as possible. Please pick your children up on time. If your child will be absent or if you will be late picking up, please advise the staff as soon as possible – thank you.
  • Tuition payments are due on the first and no later than the 10th of the month unless otherwise arranged. Full Tuition price is due each month, there is no price adjustment when your child is absent, school closings or vacations.
  • Please send in only 2 healthy snacks (morning snack and afternoon snack) and lunch.
  • Breakfast is served until 9:15am. If you arrive after this time please ensure your child has been fed breakfast at home.
  • Please remember our Health Care Policy: Children MUST be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.

     The cold weather is here!! The children will be going outside twice a day asimages-2 weather permits. Please dress your child appropriately and label ALL items (with child’s first and last name) that are brought to the school and also bring in an extra change of clothes too. To ensure safety, please have your child wear sneakers everyday, no open shoes, as they are not safe for the playground. Please practice putting on and taking off coats with your child as the cold weather is approaching and we will be practicing in class too. Please send in Mittens (no fingers please) it is much easier for the children to take on and off. Please bring in wipes and a change of weather appropriate clothes; Jacket, hat, mittens, pants (no belts), shirts, socks, and underwear (if needed), shoes (no laces – velcro only) for your child.

images-5     Please remember to return sippy cups (JUICE BOXES PREFERRED) and blankets on Monday’s after bringing them home to be washed. For the safety of your child and all the children in our program: Please do not send in glass containers for food or drink as they break.
