HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

images-1     We all look forward to a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year and all of the new, fun and exciting things planned this year at Miss Dawn’s.

          Last month the children focused on Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanza, and The New Year. The children had so much fun at the Holiday Party and loved making holiday projects. THANK YOU to all who contributed to making our party a wonderful success! The children had a wonderful experience with Santa visiting. Unknown-5He came to visit us to bring presents and have fun! The children loved opening their presents and showing their friends what Santa had brought for them. Thank you Santa, you were GREAT!!

Unknown-10     The New Year has arrived, all too quickly. This upcoming month we will be focusing on: Winter, Martin Luther King’s Day, Dinosaurs / Dragons and Breakfast Foods. We are observing the weather outside and how the temperature has been changing. We will be focusing on winter weather and the fun things to do during this season, such as, play in the snow, make snowmen, or snow angels, etc. We are also discussing how we dress in the winter. Our classroom will be turned into a winter wonderland, filled with fabulous winter decorations such as, snowflakes and penguins that the children have made and are making. For Martin Luther King Jr. Day the class will be reading stories and doing projects learning about his accomplishments. We will focus on how Martin Luther King Jr. wanted the world to have peace and harmony.images-4

     The Nursery and Preschool Classes will be working on poems, Winter themed artwork, new songs, writing skills with “Handwriting Without Tears”, learning how to write and spell their name, letters, numbers and shapes. We will be working with the letters Dd, Gg, Oo, and numbers 13, 14, 15, colors, patterns, months, seasons. The children are learning new words during our circle time, such as, January, Winter, Snow, Breakfast, New Year. The children also enjoy doing music, movement and exercise everyday. They are really doing well and love to do their projects too!

images-1     Everyday at circle time the Toddler Class will continue name Recognition, Shapes, Numbers, Colors and Alphabet Recognition. They are really doing well and love to do their projects too! **TODDLERS will be picked up at WHITE DOOR (Toddler Class ONLY) This avoids traffic in the hall – Thank you!**

     In our Winter Unit, the children will be learning all about Winter and how it gets cold and snows in the Winter. We will make many projects to decorate our class.

      In our Martin Luther King’s Day UnitUnknown-5 we will be discussing how Martin Luther King had a dream that the world would be peaceful.

     In our Dinosaur / Dragon Unit, we will be discussing all the different Dinosaurs. We will be making Dragons using our imagination. Please be sure to look around the classroom for your child’s art projects as you come in.

     In our Breakfast Foods Unit, we will be discussing many different Breakfast Foods and which are our favorite. We will also be discussing which are the healthiest choices.

     moneyWe now have Quick Pay – The new and easy way to pay your child’s tuition! This is available through an email invoice which will be sent to you monthly. The directions are on our website for online and automatic payments, please refer to the e-flier for a direct link and instructions. If you are interested in Direct Deposit from your bank it is now available, please contact Dawn for further information.

     Please don’t forget, each month tuition is the full tuition price and dueUnknown-3 on the 1st, no later than the 10th. A late fee of $35 will be charged for any payments made after the 10th of the month and the provided Bank Account / Credit Card will be charged on the 11th of the month with a 3% processing fee unless other arrangements have been made between the parent and provider in writing. The monthly Tuition cost will be until the end of the current calendar year or when your child/ren move to the next classroom, whichever comes first. The current tuition price will be the new yearly rate as your child/ren graduates into the next classroom. Thank you!!

Please be sure to watch or check online Channel 12 News or call the schools voicemail, and we now have an automated phone message for any days we will be closed or for important information.

Don't ForgetReminders:

  • We are CLOSED Wednesday, January 1, 2020 – New Year’s Day and Monday, January 20, 2020 – Martin Luther King’s Birthday.
  • Please call if your child will be absent as soon as possible. Please pick your children up on time. Overtime pay will be $1.00 a minute for each minute after 6:00 pm. If your child will be absent or if you will be late picking up, please advise the staff as soon as possible – thank you.
  • Tuition payments are due on the first and no later than the 10th of the month unless otherwise arranged. Full Tuition price is due each month, there is no price adjustment when your child is absent, school closings or vacations.
  • Please send in only breakfast, 2 healthy snacks (morning snack and afternoon snack) and lunch as per the OCFS Meal and Snack Regulations.
  • Breakfast is served until 9:15am. If you arrive after this time please ensure your child has been fed breakfast at home.
  • Please remember our Health Care Policy: Children MUST be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. Please remember to bring a doctors note to school if you brought your child to the doctor.

tissue     If anyone would like to donate wipes and/or tissues, we have been going through so many boxes. We appreciate it!

     The cold weather is here!!  The children will be going outside twice a day as weather permits. Please dress images-2your child appropriately and label ALL items (with child’s first and last name) that are brought to the school and also bring in an extra change of clothes too. To ensure safety, please have your child wear sneakers everyday, no open shoes, flip flops, or crocs as they are not safe for the playground. Please bring in wipes and a change of weather appropriate clothes; pants, shirts, socks, and underwear (if needed), shoes (no laces – velcro only), jacket, hat and gloves/ mittens for your child.

Unknown-7     Please remember to return sippy cups, bedding and blankets on Monday’s after bringing them home to be washed. **For the safety of the children please DO NOT send in GLASS containers as they break**

    We please ask that ALL children leave their toys, electronics and jewelry home as we encourage sharing of the schools toys. This will ensure their safety and we do not want the children to be upset if an item may get lost or broken. Thank you for your Cooperation!!Unknown
