NEWSLETTER “Huntington Location” FEBRUARY 2016

     We hope everyone had a wonderful New Years! The children had so much fun learning about Winter, Martin Luther King’s Day, Farm Animals and Our 5 Senses and observing the weather outside last month. We look forward to a very fun and exciting February!

february-large     This month we will learn about Groundhog Day, will he see his shadow? We will also be focusing on Dental Health/Personal Hygiene, Valentine’s Day, & President’s Day. We will have the children locate their teeth, identify a toothbrush and even pretend to brush their teeth. All of the children will get a toothbrush to take home. The we will also reinforce with the children that it is important to brush their teeth everyday and what good foods to eat. We will be having a local Dentist come and visit our school on Monday, February 1st to show the children proper dental hygiene.heart

     On Friday, February 12th we are having our Valentine’s Day party (be sure to send your child dressed in Red!). The class is decorating hearts and learning about the heart shape. They also will discuss the nice things to do for someone you love. Please don’t forget to sign up to bring in a healthy treat for our celebration – Thank you!

dancing kids     Miss Dawn’s is happy to bring Dance on Location to our school! The program will start on Tuesday, February 2nd and will run every Tuesday through June. This is a Dance Program that will come to our school weekly for 45 minutes and is open for enrollment to both boys and girls 2 years old and over. Please provide a change of clothes for your child; either a dance outfit or a short sleeve t-shirt, sweatpants, socks and sneakers on these days so they can move to the music! If you haven’t signed up for this joyous program there is still time to do so! All of the Boys and Girls enjoyed dancing with Miss Victoria at our trial class!presidents day

     For President’s Day the children will be hearing stories about our presidents and making an American flag.

     The Nursery and Preschool Classes will be working on poems, Holiday themed artwork, new songs, writing skills with “Handwriting Without Tears”, learning how to write and spell their name, letters, numbers and shapes. We will be working on the letters Qq, Rr, Ss, Tt, numbers 1-15, colors, patterns, months, seasons. The children are learning new words during our circle time, such as: Groundhog, February, Valentine and many more. The children also enjoy doing music, movement and exercise everyday. They are really doing well and love to do their projects too! We will be learning colors, patterns, shapes, sounds and seasons. Please check their folders every night.

     Everyday at circle time the Toddler Class will continue name puppyRecognition, Shapes, Numbers, Colors and Alphabet Recognition The children also enjoy doing music, movement and exercise everyday. They are really doing well and love to do their projects too! **TODDLERS will be picked up at WHITE DOOR (Toddler class ONLY) This avoids traffic in the hall – Thank you!**

dollar sign     We now have Quick Pay – The new and easy way to pay your child’s tuition! This is available through an email invoice which will be sent to you monthly. The directions are on our website for online and automatic payments, please refer to the e-flier for a direct link and instructions. If you are interested in Direct Deposit from your bank it is now available, please contact Dawn for further information.

     Please don’t forget, each month tuition is the full tuition price and due snowman-largeon the 1st, no later than the 10th. A late fee of $35 will be charged for any payments made after the 10th of the month and the provided Credit Card will be charged on the 11th of the month with a 3% processing fee unless other arrangements have been made between the parent and provider in writing.

Please be sure to watch or check online Channel 12 News or call the schools voicemail, and we now have an automated phone message for any days we will be closed or for important information.

Reminders:

  • We are CLOSED Monday, February 15th – President’s Day.
  • Our Valentine’s Day Party – Friday, February 12th.
  • Dentist Visit: Monday, February 1st.
  • Dance on Location – Dance Classes start Tuesday, February 2nd and will run each Tuesday until June. Please sign up if you wish for your child to participate in this joyous activity. Fun for both boys and girls!
  • The Photographer will be here Monday, April 11th – Please mark your calendars.
  • Please call if your child will be absent as soon as possible. Please pick your children up on time. Overtime pay will be $1.00 a minute for each minute after 6:00 pm. If your child will be absent or if you will be late picking up, please advise the staff as soon as possible – thank you.
  • Tuition payments are due on the first and no later than the 10th of the month unless otherwise arranged. Full Tuition price is due each month, there is no price adjustment when your child is absent, school closings or vacations.
  • Please send in only breakfast, 2 healthy snacks (morning snack and afternoon snack) and lunch as per the OCFS Meal and Snack Regulations.
  • Breakfast is served until 9:15am. If you arrive after this time please ensure your child has been fed breakfast at home.
  • Please remember our Health Care Policy: Children MUST be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. Please remember to bring a doctors note to school if you brought your child to the doctor.

     If anyone would like to donate wipes and/or tissues, we tissuehave been going through so many boxes. We appreciate it!

     The cold weather is here!! The children will be going outside twice a day as weather permits. Please dress your child appropriately and label ALL items (with child’s first and last name) that are brought to the toothschool and also bring in an extra change of clothes too. To ensure safety, please have your child wear sneakers everyday, no open shoes, flip flops, or crocs as they are not safe for the playground. Please bring in wipes and a change of weather appropriate clothes; Jacket, hat, gloves, pants, shirts, socks, and underwear (if needed) for your child. Please remember to return sippy cups, bedding and blankets on Monday’s after bringing them home to be washed. **For the safety of the children please DO NOT send in GLASS containers as they break**

groundhog-large     We please ask that all children leave their toys and jewelry home as we encourage sharing of the schools toys. This will ensure their safety and we do not want the children to be upset if an item may get lost or broken.
