NEWSLETTER “Huntington Location” April 2015

Dear Parents,

     Our St. Patrick’s Day party was wonderful, filled with fun and love. The children had such fun playing and especially loved making St. Patrick’s Day projects. Thank you Miss Dawn for the delicious Green Bagels! They had fun learning about Community Helpers, Spring and dental health too. We learned what good foods to eat and the sweets they should not be eating too often. Thank you to Dr. Dawn the Dentist who came to our school to show us how important dental health is and how to brush our teeth, and for the care package we all went home with.

images     This month the children will be focusing on Jungle AnimalsSpring, Easter, Passover & Plants. The children are learning new words during our circle time, such as: Jungle, April, Spring, Plants, Seed, Easter, Passover and many more.

     Miss Dawn’s Child Care is excited to announce that we will be installing Surveillance / Security Camerasimages-1 in all three of our locations to provide additional safety and security for the children, staff and parents. Installation began 03/26/15 and will be complete by 04/09/15. All regulations pertaining to Security/Surveillance Cameras have been reviewed and we are following the proper and required protocol for the installation. The Security/Surveillance Cameras will go into effect on 04/10/15.

     The Nursery and Preschool Classes will be working on poems, Holiday themed artwork, new songs, writing skills with “Handwriting Without Tears”, learning how to write and spell their name, letters, numbers and shapes. We will be working on the letters Oo, Pp, Qq, Rr, Ss, numbers 12-15, colors, patterns, months, seasons. The children also enjoy doing music, movement and exercise everyday. They are really doing well and love to do their projects too! Please check their folders for work and please review every night.

spring     Everyday at circle time the Toddler Class will continue name Recognition, Shapes, Numbers, Colors and Alphabet Recognition. The children also enjoy doing music, movement and exercise everyday. They are really doing well and love to do their projects too! **TODDLERS will be picked up at WHITE DOOR (Miss Erika’s class ONLY) This avoids traffic in the hall – Thank you!**

     In our Jungle Animal Unit we will explore how jungle animals’ characteristics help them to survive in their environment. We will also see how animals are different from plants and will recognize the different body parts of animals. We will have fun drawing, coloring and painting different animals in arts and crafts.

     Our Spring Unit is on the way and soon our classroom will be filled with easterSpring projects! They will learn about the Spring season and how this season looks, smells, tastes, sounds and feels different from other seasons. The children will draw, color and paint many fun projects. We will be having our Spring Party on Thursday, April 2nd, please look for the sign up sheet for your child’s class for a snack to bring in.

     Our Easter / Passover Unit will have the children being introduced to Easter / Passover vocabulary, making cards and many crafts.

passover     For our Plant / Seed Unit the children will discover, sort and plant seeds while recording growth and will identify the structure of plants, including seed’s, roots, leaves, flower and fruits. We will talk about how much we depend upon plants. We are doing a science experiment with celery stalks and food coloring and the children will watch the food coloring go up the celery like roots on a plant.

     The children are also starting to prepare for our “end of the year“ concert on June 11th. If you could please bring $15.00 cash in an envelope per child to help cover the cost of the shirts and costumes for graduation as soon as possible. 

     School pictures will be taken on April 13th at 10:30 am.

     We now have Quick Pay – The new and easy way to pay your child’s tuition! dollar signThis is available through an email invoice which will be sent to you monthly. The directions are on our website for online and automatic payments, please refer to the e-flier for a direct link and instructions.

     Please be sure to watch or check online Channel 12 News or call the schools voicemail, and we now have an automated phone message for any days we will be closed or for important information.

tissue     If anyone would like to donate wipes and/or tissues, we have been going through so many boxes. We appreciate it!

Reminders:

  • We will be Closed Friday April 3rd and Monday April 6th, 2015.
  • Our Spring Party:  Thursday, April 2nd
  • Please mark your calendars: The Photographer will be taking pictures of our lovely children on Monday, April 13, 2015 @ 10:30am
  • “End of the year“ concert in June 11th.
  • Please call if your child will be absent as soon as possible. Please pick your children up on time. If your child will be absent or if you will be late picking up, please advise the staff as soon as possible – thank you.
  • Tuition payments are due on the first and no later than the 10th of the month unless otherwise arranged. Full Tuition price is due each month, there is no price adjustment when your child is absent, school closings or vacations.
  • Please send in only 2 healthy snacks (morning snack and afternoon snack) and lunch.
  • Breakfast is served until 9:15am. If you arrive after this time please ensure your child has been fed breakfast at home.
  • Please remember our Health Care Policy: Children MUST be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.

     The warm weather is coming soon!! The children will be going outsideearth day twice a day as weather permits. Please dress your child appropriately and label ALL items (with child’s first and last name) that are brought to the school and also bring in an extra change of clothes too. To ensure safety, please have your child wear sneakers everyday, no open shoes, as they are not safe for the playground. Please practice putting on and taking off coats with your child as we will be practicing in class too. Please remember to return sippy cups and blankets on Monday’s after bringing them home to be washed. Please bring in wipes and a change of weather appropriate clothes; Jacket, hat, mittens, pants, shirts, socks, and underwear (if needed) shoes (no laces – velcro only) for your child.

     Please remember to return sippy cups (JUICE BOXES PREFERRED) and blankets on Monday’s after bringing them home to be washed. For the safety of your child and all the children in our program: Please do not send in glass containers for food or drink as they break.

butterfly     We please ask that all children leave their toys and jewelry home as we encourage sharing of the schools toys. This will ensure their safety and we do not want the children to be upset if it may get lost or broken.
