In our Community Helper Unit we will introduce the concept and will discuss how different groups work together and why community work is important for our communities. Our Community Helper unit will be interesting and the children are excited to meet police people, fire people, etc. We will have a couple of community helpers visit with us this month. We will be learning about their different jobs, uniforms, transportation, and how they help our community.
For our Forest Animals unit we will learn about forest animals and how they make their homes. We will learn the names of them, their shelters, food and babies.
St. Patrick’s Day is on the way and soon our classroom will be filled with green! The children will be decorating the classroom with pots o’ gold, rainbows, shamrocks, and lucky leprechauns. They will be learning who St. Patrick was and why we celebrate this day. We are practicing patterns with shamrocks. Our school will be celebrating on Friday, March 16th. Please dress your child in green. Miss Dawn will be providing the classes with green bagels and juice. The children will be trying to catch a leprechaun (on the playground weather permitting) and looking for four leaf clovers.
In Our Spring Unit we will learn about all of the plants and animals that will come back during this time of the year and how the flowers will bloom very soon. We will make many colorful art projects to decorate our class, come in and find your child’s.
The children are also starting to prepare for our “end of the year “ concert in June. The concert date will be given out in next month’s newsletter. If you could please bring $15.00 cash in an envelope per child to help cover the cost of the shirts and costumes for graduation as soon as possible.
