Wow! What an exciting and busy month May was. We hope all the moms had a wonderful Mother’s Day. The children learned about butterflies and birds and pretended they were animals at the zoo and circus. They learned new circus songs and are finishing their alphabet books too.
This month we will discuss about Fish, Frogs, Father’s Day, Plants, and Flag Day, we are excited about summer and have a lot of fun things planned. Our Summer Camp Calendar will be out by July 1st.
In our Fish Unit we will observe water animals, and describe how they are alike or different. We will read books, look at pictures, draw, color and paint the many different kinds of fish.
For our Frog Unit we will introduce the stages of a frogs life cycle and we will see the difference between toads and frogs. We will do many art projects about the different stages of a frogs life.
In our Father’s Day Unit we will discuss the special daddy’s, uncle’s, grandpa’s, and men in our life and why we honor and thank them. We will be making a special project for them too.
In our Plant Unit we will also discuss how seeds sprout and grow and the different stages of a plant. We will learn about the different parts of a plant and make many art projects about the different flowers.
For our Flag Day Unit we will read books about the Flag and make arts and crafts. It will be so much fun!
The Nursery and Preschool Classes will be working on poems, Holiday themed artwork, new songs, writing skills with “Handwriting Without Tears”, learning how to write and spell their name, letters, numbers and shapes. We will be working on the review of all letters, numbers, colors, patterns, months, seasons. The children also enjoy doing music, movement and exercise everyday. They are really doing well and love to do their projects too! We will be learning colors, patterns, shapes, sounds and seasons. Please check their folders every night.
Everyday at circle time the Toddler Class will continue name Recognition, 
Shapes, Numbers, Colors and Alphabet Recognition. The children also enjoy doing music, movement and exercise everyday. They are really doing well and love to do their projects too! **TODDLERS will be picked up at WHITE DOOR (Toddler class ONLY) This avoids traffic in the hall – Thank you!**
The children are prepared and excited for our “end of the year“ concert on June 9th @ 10am. If you could please bring $15.00 cash in an envelope per child to help cover the cost of the shirts and costumes for graduation as soon as possible.
Parents and guests should arrive at the child care no later than 9:45 a.m. Please enter through the playground gate and a teacher will be there to greet you and will be handing out the programs. After you receive your program please find a seat and wait for the concert to begin. We ask you to please go directly to your seats and not to enter the child care to see your child because this may distract the children and they may get upset. We want this to be a fun event for everyone, so if your child gets upset at any point during the concert one of the teachers will walk your child over to you so they can feel comfortable participating in the concert with their parent/parents from your seat. If you are unable to attend the concert and your child needs special attention we have designated teachers to care for your child/children. Please, don’t be discouraged if your child/children doesn’t want to participate. Remember they are young and we don’t want to pressure them into doing something that they don’t feel comfortable about. We are here to have a great time and enjoy the concert. Immediately following the concert there will be refreshments for everyone to enjoy. We hope you have a wonderful time and enjoy the show!!
Miss Dawn’s is happy to have Dance on Location at our school! The program will continue to run every Tuesday through June. This is a Dance Program that will come to our school weekly for 45 minutes and is open for enrollment to both boys and girls 2 years old and over. Please provide a change of clothes for your child; either a dance outfit or a short sleeve t-shirt, sweatpants, socks and sneakers on these days so they can move to the music! If you haven’t signed up for this joyous program there is still time to do so! The Boys and Girls enjoy dancing with Miss Victoria!
Miss Dawn’s is excited to bring Happy Feet Back!! – Happy Feet is a professionally developed soccer program based on 25 years of youth coaching experience. The program is GREAT FUN and age appropriate for 2 – 5 year olds. The instructors of the program use stories, songs, nursery rhymes and fun games to captivate and entertain the children. The children will learn creative soccer techniques, enhance motor development, develop social skills and help improve balance and coordination. Every week for 30 minutes the children will participate in their captivating and entertaining “Story Time” with a soccer ball. The Spring Session will run each week for 8 weeks from Thursday, May 5, 2016 to Thursday, June 30, 2016 for 30 minutes. Please note there will be no session on Thursday, June 9, 2016 due to our concert. All children are encouraged to join this amazing program. Please register to ensure your child has a spot. Fill out the registration form at your child’s school if you wish for your child to participate in this fun program. The fee for the 8 week session will be $64 per Child (…just $8 per week). Please Register NOW for this great program! Both boys and girls love it!
We now have Quick Pay – The new and easy way to pay your child’s tuition! This is available through an email invoice which will be sent to you monthly. The directions are on our website for online and automatic payments, please refer to the e-flier for a direct link and instructions. If you are interested in Direct Deposit from your bank it is now available, please contact Dawn for further information.
Please don’t forget, each month tuition is the full tuition price and due on the 1st, no later than the 10th. A late fee of $35 will be charged for any payments made after the 10th of the month and the provided Credit Card will be charged on the 11th of the month with a 3% processing fee unless other arrangements have been made between the parent and provider in writing.
Please be sure to watch or check online Channel 12 News or call the schools voicemail, and we now have an automated phone message for any days we will be closed or for important information.
Reminders:
- We are CLOSED Monday, July 4 – Friday, July 8 for our July 4th/Summer Recess.
- End of the Year Concert on Thursday, June 9th @ 10am
- Dance on Location – Dance Classes will run each Tuesday until June. Please sign up if you wish for your child to participate in this joyous activity. Fun for both boys and girls!
- Happy Feet is Back!! – Happy Feet will bring their Soccer Program directly to Miss Dawn’s each week on Thursdays!! The Spring Session will run each week for 8 weeks from Thursday, May 5, 2016 to Thursday, June 30, 2016 for 30 minutes. Please sign up if you wish for your child to participate in this amazing program!
- Please call if your child will be absent as soon as possible. Please pick your children up on time. Overtime pay will be $1.00 a minute for each minute after 6:00 pm. If your child will be absent or if you will be late picking up, please advise the staff as soon as possible – thank you.
- Tuition payments are due on the first and no later than the 10th of the month unless otherwise arranged. Full Tuition price is due each month, there is no price adjustment when your child is absent, school closings or vacations.
- Please send in only breakfast, 2 healthy snacks (morning snack and afternoon snack) and lunch as per the OCFS Meal and Snack Regulations.
- Breakfast is served until 9:15am. If you arrive after this time please ensure your child has been fed breakfast at home.
- Please remember our Health Care Policy: Children MUST be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. Please remember to bring a doctors note to school if you brought your child to the doctor.
If anyone would like to donate wipes and/or tissues, we have been going through so many boxes. We appreciate it!
The warm weather is here!! The children will be going outside twice a day as weather permits. Please dress your child appropriately and label ALL items (with child’s first and last name) that are brought to the school and also bring in an extra change of clothes too. To 
ensure safety, please have your child wear sneakers everyday, no open shoes, flip flops, or crocs as they are not safe for the playground. Please bring in wipes and a change of weather appropriate clothes; Bathing suit, towel, suntan lotion, insect repellent, water shoes, sun hat, pants / shorts, shirts, socks, and underwear (if needed), shoes (no laces – velcro only) for your child.
Please remember to return sippy cups, bedding and blankets on Monday’s after bringing them home to be washed. **For the safety of the children please DO NOT send in GLASS containers as they break**
We please ask that all children leave their toys and jewelry home as we encourage sharing of the schools toys. This will ensure their safety and we do not want the children to be upset if an item may get lost or broken.
