October 1, 2015
Dear Parents,
Last month the children focused on getting acquainted with each other and learned all about Fall Fruits and Vegetables, Family/Friends, and All About Me. The children had so much fun making new friends, seeing old ones and working in their classrooms.
This month we will talk about, Columbus Day, Halloween, Fall, and Fire Prevention and Safety. The children will be discussing which fruits and vegetables grow in the Fall.
In our Columbus Day Unit, we will discuss who Columbus was. We will make many fun projects and decorate our classroom with our beautiful works of art!
In our Halloween Unit, we will make pumpkins projects and discuss how much fun it is to dress up for Halloween. Look around the room and try to find your child’s art.
In our Fall Unit we will discuss what we do in the Fall, how the leaves change colors and fall off the trees. We will go outside to gather leaves and examine their new colors.
In our Fire Prevention and Safety Unit, we will discuss Fire Safety and the important jobs of the Firefighters.
We will be celebrating Fall with a Halloween Party on Friday, October 30th!! Please bring your child’s costume (nothing scary) in a separate bag with your child’s name on it, so we can change them for the party. Please do not send any masks or weapons to school. We are all looking forward to a great time! All are welcome! Please look for the sign-up sheet for snacks for our party. We encourage healthy snacks. Please be creative with the healthy snacks, Thank you! The Great Pumpkin will also be leaving a surprise for all of the children on the playground!!
The children will be making fun and spooky projects for Halloween. Please be sure to look around the classroom for your child’s art projects as you come in.
October is “Fire Prevention” month. Please take the time to be safe and remember to change the batteries in all of your smoke and CO detectors or replace any older or questionable detectors before months end.

The cooler weather is here!! The children will be going outside twice a day as weather permits. Please dress your child appropriately and label ALL items (with child’s first and last name) that are brought to the school and also bring in an extra change of clothes too. To ensure safety, please have your child wear sneakers everyday, no open shoes, flip flops, or crocs as they are not safe for the playground. Please bring in wipes and a change of weather appropriate clothes; Jacket, pants, shirts, socks, and underwear (if needed) for your child. Please remember to return sippy cups, bedding and blankets on Monday’s after bringing them home to be washed.
We please ask that all children leave their toys and jewelry home as we encourage sharing of the schools toys. This will ensure their safety and we do not want the children to be upset if an item may get lost or broken.
