January 1, 2015
Dear Parents,
We all look forward to a happy, healthy New Year and all of the new, fun exciting things planned this year at Miss Dawn’s.
Our holiday party was great fun! The children had a wonderful experience with Santa, the Elf and the Reindeer visiting. They came to visit us to bring presents and have fun! The children loved opening their presents and showing their friends what Santa had brought for them. Thank you Santa, you were GREAT!! The children loved making holiday projects and noise makers for the New Year. Thank you to all families that donated to our holiday Giving Drive, it was much appreciated by the wonderful families.
This upcoming month we will be focusing on: Winter, Martin Luther King’s Day, Farm Animals and Our 5 Senses. We are observing the weather outside and how the temperature has been changing. We will be focusing on winter weather and the fun things to do during this season, such as, play in the snow, make snowmen, or snow angels, etc. We are also discussing how we dress in the winter. Our classroom will be turned into a winter wonderland, filled with fabulous winter decorations such as, snowflakes, penguins, etc. that the children have made and are making. For Martin Luther King Jr. Day the class will be reading stories and doing projects learning about his accomplishments. We will focus on how Martin Luther King Jr. wanted the world to have peace and harmony.
The Nursery and Preschool Classes will be working on poems, Holiday themed artwork, new songs, writing skills with “Handwriting Without Tears”, learning how to write and spell their name, letters, numbers and shapes. We will be working on the letters Aa-Zz, and numbers 0-70. The children also enjoy doing music, movement and exercise everyday. They are really doing well and love to do their projects too! This month we will be making an Alphabet Book. We will be learning colors, patterns, shapes, sounds, seasons and our senses. We are continuing to work in our journals. The children are illustrating pictures and telling stories about different topics. Please check their folders for work and please review every night.
Everyday at circle time the Toddler Class will continue name Recognition, Shapes, Numbers, Colors and Alphabet Recognition. The children are learning new words during our circle time, such as New Year, January, Martin Luther King and many more. The children also enjoy doing music, movement and exercise everyday. They are really doing well and love to do their projects too!
