NovemberNewsLetter

11-5-13

 Dear Parents,

November has arrived with a sense of anticipation of the upcoming holiday season. Colors of Autumn are all around us and the air is filled with a fresh crispness. We hope that you and your family are safe and warm.2

This month we will be focusing on Thanksgiving, Animals that hibernate, and The 5 Senses.

As part of our focus on Thanksgiving, our class is collecting nonperishable food items to fill a giving basket. The basket of food will be donated to a needy family in time for Thanksgiving. As the food is collected, our class will take inventory on the contents of the basket to practice our counting and categorizing skills. Your contribution in this effort will be greatly appreciated. If you can, please send the food item in as soon as you can or no later than Nov. 22nd.
Cute-Native-American-Man-and-Woman   Our Thanksgiving party will be held on Tues., November 26th. A sign-up sheet is hung up for anyone that would like to donate a goodie for the party.
We will be gathering for a feast and the children will be sampling the different foods used by the Native Americans and the Pilgrims at the first Thanksgiving feast.
The Toddler class continues to focus on letter, shape, and name recognition, as well as the weather and counting. They love story time, singing and reciting nursery rhymes.

The Nursery & Pre-K class children are improving nicely on their letter recognition and writing. The classes are focusing on the letters “E-G” in our alphabet. We are focusing on the numbers “3-5” in our number books. They also continue reviewing shapes, colors, calendar, weather, and more during circle time.
The children are learning new words during our circle time, such as, Pilgrim, Indian, Feast, Thanksgiving, squash, and celebration.

The children are also learning all of the different animals that hibernate for the winter, such as, bears, turtles, chipmunks, etc.

The 5 senses is a fun theme for the children. They will be touching different objects; for example, cotton & sandpaper to learn the difference between soft, rough, etc. They are smelling, and tasting different foods, such as, apples, oranges, etc. They are listening to different sounds of instruments and music, etc. and of course they are seeing everything around them. 5
Our parent/teacher conferences will be held on Wed. Nov. 13th. It is a brief 10 minute conference for you to discuss with your child’s teacher, their strengths and weaknesses, their favorite things to play with and how they interacts with other kids.
*Reminder: We will be closed Mon. Nov. 11th and Thurs. & Fri. Nov. 28th & 29th for Thanksgiving & Dec. 24-26 for Christmas. Please check the website under the Literature section to see the complete list of closings for the year. The 2014 closing calendar will be posted shortly.
Payments are due at the first of each month, (unless other arrangements have been made). After the 10th a $35 charge will automatically be added to your monthly tuition. Full tuition is due each month, there are no refunds for absents, school closings or vacations.

6As winter approaches, if the school is closed due to snow it will be broadcasted on channel 12 news or on the internet as well as a message will be left at the school stating we are closed. If you have any questions please ask. Happy birthday to all of our November babies!

Thank you all for your continuous contributions and support! Have a Healthy and Happy Thanksgiving!
